P227-M illegal drugs seized in weeklong operations in Cordillera
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet - More than P227-M worth of illegal drugs seized, while 12 drug personalities areested during a weeklong operation in Cordillera region from August 10 to 16.
The Police Regional Office-Cordillera said 17 anti-illegal drug operations were conducter, including eight marijuana eradication drives, three buy-bust operations, two arrest warrant executions, two search warrant implementations, and two police responses.
These operations resulted in confiscation of 1,124,700 fully grown marijuana plants, 50,000 marijuana seedlings, 150 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops and 8.49 grams of suspected shabu, with an overall Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P227,015,732.00.
Further, 12 drug personalities are now facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, following their arrest in the operations.
Of those arrested, four were identified as High Value Individuals (HVIs) and eight as Street Level Individuals (SLIs).
The most notable accomplishments were recorded by the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (PPO), which eradicated marijuana plants and confiscated suspected shabu with a combined SDP of P224,946,800.00, and arrested six SLIs.
Meanwhile, the Mountain Province PPO eradicated P2,000,000.00 worth of marijuana plants.
Additionally, the Baguio City Police Office seized illegal drugs worth P42,840.00 and arrested two HVIs and one SLI. On the other hand, the Apayao PPO confiscated illegal drugs with an SDP of P18,952.00 and arrested two HVIs and one SLI, while the Benguet PPO seized suspected shabu with an SDP of P7,140.00.
