The first production Ferrari Luce, the first-ever fully-electric vehicle produced by the Prancing Horse, has just sold at an RM Sotheby’s auction for a staggering US$40,000,000. The auction was held at the Portola Hotel and Monterey Conference Center for its 29th year. The RM Sotheby’s Monterey event brings together leading collectors, exceptional motor cars, and a level of market activity unmatched anywhere else in the world.
The particular Ferrari Luce sold is “Chassis 0,” the very first in the serial number’s series. In addition to being the first, it has also gone through the Ferrari Tailor Made program, receiving custom paint, wheels, and interior fittings not found in regular production run models.
The exterior received an exclusive Madreperla Semi-Gloss finish, developed specifically for this car. Its formulation incorporates a dedicated Ferrari Tailor Made pigment, capable of producing iridescent reflections that evolve from green to violet depending on the intensity and angle of the light. It is matched with dedicated wheels, bespoke brake calipers, and the Ferrari logo set against an optical white background.
The interior gets Le Mans metallic leather in Perla, an exclusive material developed for the Ferrari Tailor Made program and derived from carefully selected Swiss hides. All that makes this model unique is inscribed on a dedicated plaque, further enhancing the vehicle’s value.
Ferrari will donate all proceeds of this charity auction to benefit future educational initiatives through The Ferrari Foundation, a recognized 501(c)(3) public charity
