P1-M shabu seized from drug den in Taguig

Police operatives dismantled a drug den and seized P1 million worth of shabu in Taguig on Aug. 16. 

The Southern Police District’s District Drug Enforcement Unit in coordination with the Taguig police conducted a buy-bust operation at about 2:40 a.m. at a residence on Village Street in Barangay Central Bicutan.

During the operation, the police also arrested five suspects identified as alias Jemai, 34; alias Mohaimen, 37; alias Moonderf John, 32; alias Mark Anthony, 41; and alias Erwin, 60, who was identified as the maintainer of the drug den.

Under Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), a drug den, dive or resort is “a place where any dangerous drug and/or controlled precursor and essential chemical is administered, delivered, stored for illegal purposes, distributed, sold or used in any form.”

An undercover officer acted as a poseur-buyer and negotiated a drug deal with alias Jemai, prompting back-up team members to immediately move in, secure the drug den, and apprehend all individuals present inside.

The police seized five plastic sachets containing shabu weighing approximately 160 grams valued at P1.08 million, buy-bust money, and a cell phone used during the drug transaction.  

The suspects were brought to the DDEU-SPD office for documentation. They will face complaints for violation of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), 6 (maintenance of a drug den), 11 (possession of dangerous drugs) and 26 (conspiracy) of RA 9165 based on their levels of participation in the illegal acts. 

Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver Cinco, SPD district director, commended the DDEU and operating personnel for the dismantling of the drug den.
