Karen Bordador revisited her 2016 imprisonment over a drug-related case recntly, sharing her belief that the experience was a "season" that God had “planned” for her.
Taking to Facebook, Karen posted:
"Has it really been 10 years already?! Aug. 13, 2016 was the day my whole life turned upside down. I swear, I still remember it like it was yesterday..."
Looking back, she said she was struggling with something deeply personal before her arrest and felt disconnected from the “spark” she once had.
Despite going through a challenging situation, Karen held onto her faith.
"Little did I know God would answer me in the most shocking way. The way to inspire is to expire, right? And He put me in jail— not as a punishment I could explain…but as a profound turning point I could finally understand,” she reflected.
“And honestly—yes, I got what I asked for."
Karen then shared her realizations from the ordeal, particularly about faith and second chances.
"The pathways that allowed me to start again, rebuild, and come back stronger— so that people with the same situation could find their way back too. Because in life, we don’t just experience things… we interpret them. And I choose to believe He planned it all—even the parts that broke me," she added.
Concluding her post, she wrote, “And now that it’s been 10 years… I can say it out loud: That season didn’t define me—it refined me."
It can be recalled that Karen was arrested on August 13, 2016, along with her then-boyfriend Emilio Lim, during a buy-bust operation conducted by authorities at Lim's condo unit in Pasig City.
She spent five long years in prison before she was acquitted and freed.
