After ten years, Instagram updates its logo with a modern look, and some users are not happy
Meta, the company that owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, revealed a new logo last week. This is the first update for the content-sharing app in a decade.
“The wordmark at the top of the app hasn’t changed in ten years, so it was time for a refresh,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in a post on the platform. “Cleaner and more modern, with references to the original and the simplicity and craft that’s always made it Instagram,” Mosseri said.
Comments to the post pointed out that the “s” looked like a “z”.
User @paulodelvalle commented: “Instagzam?”
While user @thelosttwo raised issues Instagram is facing and said a new logo was prioritized over them. “Instead of fixing the algorithm, this is what you’re paying your employees 6 figures to do.”
@masonversluis, who has 187 thousand followers, commented on the post: “Fixing broken things, but meanwhile your AI moderation has THOUSANDS of people WRONGFULLY banned, including my wife and a 12-year-old's account! FOCUS ON WHAT MATTERS.”
Have you seen the new logo? What are your thoughts? Are you missing the old one?
