Apl.de.Ap puts Filipino roots at heart of new EP

Apl.de.Ap is bringing his latest music project closer to home.

The Filipino-American rapper and Black Eyed Peas founding member has partnered with GMA Music for the distribution of his upcoming three-track EP, which will feature collaborations with Filipino artists.

One of the songs in the upcoming EP is "Why," a collaboration with Filipino rock icon Bamboo.

For Apl.de.Ap, the track is deeply connected to his Filipino roots.

"It's about my love for our country," he said.

The rapper said that despite building an international career, the Philippines has remained close to his heart and he hopes his work can create a stronger connection with his home country.

Apl.de.Ap remains concerned about issues affecting Filipinos, including flooding, and hopes to use his platform to encourage action.

He is also pursuing agricultural and environmental initiatives, including a tree-planting program in different parts of the country.

Apl.de.Ap and the Black Eyed Peas last performed in the Philippines last year.

The group is known for hits including "I Gotta Feeling," and "Where Is the Love?"
