DSWD provides additional relief assistance to LGUs affected by severe weather events

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said it continues to augment relief assistance for local government units (LGUs) helping communities affected by the southwest monsoon (habagat) and back-to-back tropical cyclones “Luis” and “Maymay.”
Based on the latest Disaster Response Operations Management, Information and Communication report released on Friday, Aug. 14, DSWD has provided 754,881 family food packs (FFPs) to affected families and individuals.
The agency also distributed 9,720 non-food items and 16,869 boxes of ready-to-eat food to affected communities.
“The DSWD continues to coordinate with local governments to determine their needs and immediately deliver the necessary relief assistance. We are ensuring that we have sufficient stockpiles and resources to continue responding while communities remain affected by the inclement weather,” DSWD Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group (DRMG) and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said in Filipino.
Dumlao said the department is also providing financial assistance to affected families, particularly those whose houses were damaged.
About ₱1.598 million in cash aid has so far been distributed under the DSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.
