Another Bacolod village hit by ASF

BACOLOD CITY - The City Veterinary Office (CVO) confirmed that Barangay Alangilan has recently reported one African Swine Fever (ASF) case, bringing the total to five ASF-hit villages out of 61 total barangays here.
Another confirmed ASF case was also logged in Barangay Alijis, which was the first, along with Barangay Taculing to have been hit by the virus in this city.
Last June, Barangays Granada and Bata each recorded one confirmed ASF case.
The CVO continued its disinfection operations in areas affected by ASF as part of its ongoing efforts to contain the spread of the virus.
In an advisory, Dr. Janine Sarthou, assistant city veterinarian, said the CVO continues to intensify surveillance and monitoring efforts in affected and nearby areas.
Hog raisers were encouraged to heighten biosecurity measures, maintain proper sanitation, and immediately report any unusual signs of illness or mortality among swine.
She appealed for the continued cooperation and vigilance of hog raisers, barangay officials, and stakeholders.
She said collective action and strengthened biosecurity can help prevent the spread of ASF and protect the livelihoods of local farmers.
