Known for its funny and heartwarming story of Ina Montecilo, played by Ai-Ai delas Alas, Star Cinema’s "Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat" made it to IndieWire’s list of the 100 Best Movie Sequels of All Time, ranking 75th.

It is one of only two Philippine films on the list, alongside Kidlat Tahimik’s "Who Invented the Yoyo? Who Invented the Moon Buggy?," which ranked 87th.

One of the contributors, Lé Baltar, shared that "Ang Tanging Ina N’yong Lahat" is more than just a comedy; it also parodies Filipino society at the time.

"The film’s pleasures also rest on its political inflection, setting up in the process a parody of the despotic Gloria Macapagal Arroyo regime under which the blockbuster film was made — and therefore a critique of the self-mythologizing power of assuming the image of a charismatic maternal figure to provoke a kind of electoral herd mentality in a country where the family unit is deemed sacred,” Lé Baltar wrote.

Le Baltar also complimented the late Wenn Deramas' work on the film.

"What Deramas has fashioned here is prime, though not readily flawless, entertainment that freely bends the parameters of studio moviemaking to his will,” Lé Baltar added.
