119 arrested in Cagayan Valley's weeklong anti-crime operations
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan — A total of 119 individuals were arrested in various anti-criminality operations conducted by the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO 2) across the Cagayan Valley from August 6 to 12, 2026.
PRO 2 said 77 wanted persons, including three most wanted persons, were arrested during the weeklong Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations (SACLEO).
Authorities also conducted 22 anti-illegal drug operations, resulting in the arrest of 28 drug suspects and the seizure of 40.38 grams of shabu worth about P266,544 and 9.32 grams of marijuana valued at P1,238.
Five individuals were arrested in operations against loose firearms, while five firearms were confiscated. Another 20 firearms and seven explosives were voluntarily surrendered or recovered with the assistance of concerned residents.
Meanwhile, nine persons were arrested in seven anti-illegal logging operations, resulting in the confiscation of 5,029 board feet of illegally sourced lumber valued at P234,896.
Five other individuals were arrested for various violations of law.
PRO 2 also reported that 12,683 individuals were apprehended for violations of local ordinances under the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s “Safer Cities” initiative for highly urbanized cities.
PRO 2 Regional Director PBGen Mariano C. Rodriguez said the sustained operations demonstrate the police force’s commitment to maintaining peace, order, and security across the region.
Rodriguez said PRO 2 would continue to intensify its campaign against wanted persons, illegal drugs, loose firearms, illegal logging, and other threats to public safety.
