Hagonoy, Bulacan under state of calamity

Hagonoy, Bulacan was placed under a state of calamity after floods swamped 26 barangays due to monsoon rains intensified by Typhoons Luis and Maymay and high tide.

The Sangguniang Bayan approved Municipal Resolution No. 2026-198 on Aug. 13, following the recommendation of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) led by Mayor Ma. Rosario “Charo” Sy-Alvarado Mendoza.
Mayor Mendoza said the declaration will hasten relief operations for affected residents.
Food packs were earlier distributed by a local bread factory. A Child-Friendly Space was also set up for evacuee children, giving them a safe place to play, relax, and find comfort despite the flooding.
The mayor also expressed gratitude to the Philippine Red Cross – Bulacan Chapter for its swift response and continued support.
“In times of need, every help and every heart willing to serve is truly important,” Mendoza said.
The move comes days after neighboring Calumpit was also placed under a state of calamity, with 29 barangays submerged in floodwaters.
