- Ate Gay celebrates his 55th birthday after defying the life expectancy initially given to him by his doctor as he continues his battle against cancer.
Ate Gay is celebrating his 55th birthday with a reason that goes beyond the usual cake and birthday greetings.
The comedian looked back on his health journey in a Facebook post, sharing how he was once told that he might not live long enough to see 2026.
“Sabi ng doctor ko nung una, ‘di na ako aabot ng 2026. Aba aba aba at eto, abot ako sa birthday ko,” Ate Gay wrote.
Now that he has reached his birthday, he took the opportunity to thank the people who stayed by his side throughout his treatment.
“Salamat sa inyong lahat lalo na sa mga anghel ko at kay Lord Jesus. Salamat,” he said.
Ate Gay also shared another birthday blessing involving his ongoing treatment. According to him, one of the people he considers an “angel” helped provide for another 12 sessions of immunotherapy.
“Pabirthday sa akin ng angel ko, another 12 session (every 21 days) of immunotherapy. Tiyak na patay ang cancer cells. Thank you Lord Jesus,” he shared.
The comedian has been undergoing treatment for mucoepidermoid squamous cell carcinoma, a rare form of cancer.
His health battle has continued in recent months.
