In front of the camera, Anne Curtis is the embodiment of a dyosa (goddess), but behind the scenes, the actress and Cetaphil ambassador, just like all of us, also deals with skin concerns that change with age, lifestyle, and even the weather.
In an interview with Manila Bulletin Lifestyle during the launch of Cetaphil’s National Healthy Skin Mission 2026 on Aug. 7, Anne opened up about how her relationship with skincare has evolved, from being content with a little moisturizer to becoming more conscious about sunscreen, serums, and caring for her skin.
“As time changes, so does your skin,” she said. She also recalled that when she was younger, she would be happy with just a little moisturizer. Sunscreen and serums were not yet part of her routine. As she got older, however, she learned to recognize the products and ingredients her skin needed.
Among the concerns Anne has learned to embrace is her freckles and dry skin. She shared that she is also still working on melasma, which became more noticeable after giving birth and can be aggravated by sun exposure.
“I used to be conscious about these things. But now, it's so easy to gain access to how you can repair your skin,” she said, adding that better access to skincare education has helped take away the fear and embarrassment surrounding certain skin conditions.
Her own routine has also become more consistent. The “It’s Showtime” host said she now makes sure to remove her makeup even when she is tired, followed by double cleansing with a gentle cleanser. She then uses toner, serums, and moisturizer. But she also keeps things realistic.
“If there are nights that I'm also so tired, I lessen the routine. Remover. Wash. No more toner straight to moisturizer then sleep,” she shared with a laugh.
During the day, one step remains non-negotiable: sunscreen. “After moisturizer, sunscreen. I wish I had learned that sooner,” she said.
As an in-demand celebrity, Anne travels a lot. She has learned to also adjust her routine depending on the weather and where she is traveling. In colder countries, she adds more layers of moisturizer and sunscreen, while in warmer weather, she opts for products that feel less sticky.
When asked about her favorite Cetaphil products, she shared that these are the serums, the Healthy Bright Radiance line, Ceramide Barrier Lotion, and a moisturizer with SPF. She particularly likes the Ceramide Barrier Lotion because her skin has been especially dry lately.
“You don’t need to follow the hype,” she said when discussing how she chooses skincare products. For Ann, it is more important to find products that work for her rather than simply following trends.
That philosophy also guides the advice she gives to younger skincare users. Anne encourages children and preteens to use gentle cleansers, especially after swimming, and to make sunscreen a habit. For adults, she recommends finding what works for their skin and following trusted dermatologists online instead of blindly following influencer recommendations.
After six years as a Cetaphil ambassador, she continues to see value in the brand’s National Healthy Skin Mission, particularly because it serves as an annual reminder to prioritize skin health.
“I think it’s a good thing to be educated and informed through this kind of program. It takes away that fear or shame about certain skin conditions that you have.”
