PBBM checks flood pump, mitigation efforts in Las Piñas

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, inspected the government’s flood mitigation efforts in Las Piñas City as authorities continued to address the impact of heavy rains in Metro Manila.
Marcos checked a high vacuum, self-priming drainage trailer pump deployed at Alido Bridge in Barangay Zapote, one of the areas being closely monitored for floodwater buildup.
Las Piñas Mayor April Aguilar personally welcomed and accompanied the President during the inspection.
The heavy duty pump was deployed to speed up the extraction and discharge of floodwater, particularly in areas where water does not immediately recede through natural drainage.
The inspection followed several days of heavy rains brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon and recent storms, which caused flooding in parts of Metro Manila and Luzon.
Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Nicolas Torre III also joined the inspection.
Aguilar expressed appreciation to Marcos and the national government for their continued attention to Las Piñas and for providing additional support to the city’s flood response and mitigation efforts.
