BACOLOD CITY – A misunderstanding over reclaiming of a motorcycle due to non-payment led to the death of a 35-year-old woman after she was allegedly stabbed by her 37-year-old husband, who also stabbed himself at their house in Barangay Refugio, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, August 11.
The victim was identified as Milag.
Police Lt. Jessica Malata, deputy chief of Calatrava Municipal Police Station, said the victim and her husband Tito figured in a heated argument when the latter confronted his wife thinking that she did not pay for their motorcycle. The couple had a miscommunication over money, she added.
Malata said the wife paid the motorcycle but the agent might have not updated their bill because the payment was made through a center.
During the altercation, the husband took a bladed weapon and allegedly stabbed the victim several times, hitting her in the chest and left arm. The suspect then allegedly stabbed himself in the stomach, and lay beside his wife.
The couple was rushed to Calatrava Municipal Hospital, but the victim was declared dead.
Malata said the suspect is now under hospital arrest, and will be charged with parricide.
Malata said the suspect had a previous case for illegal drugs, but was released through plea bargaining last year. Prior to this incident, the couple had already previous misunderstandings.
