Man falls fleeing knife attack in Tondo; neighbor arrested

A 32‑year‑old man fell down a staircase while trying to escape a neighbor who allegedly tried to attack him with a kitchen knife during a heated argument in Tondo, Manila, on Tuesday afternoon, August 11, police said.

The victim, identified as Archie Aboga-A, was repairing the roof of his house at Gate 8, Parola Compound, Barangay 20, when the suspect, Randy Manaog, 52, allegedly confronted him after noticing him hitting the roof, according to the Manila Police District-Delpan Police Station.

Police said the argument escalated when Manaog allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and charged at Aboga-A.

Fearing for his safety, Aboga-A quickly descended the stairs.

However, he allegedly lost his grip on the handrail and fell.
The incident happened at 5:10 p.m., and police got the report at 5:40 p.m.

Aboga-A was rushed to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center, where he was attended to by Dr. Mark Anthony Peñarubia and remained under observation, police said.

Police investigators and responding officers conducted a follow‑up operation to locate Manaog, leading to his arrest around 8:10 p.m. in the area.

The kitchen knife allegedly used during the confrontation was not recovered, according to police.

Manaog remained in police custody as authorities readied an attempted homicide complaint for filing before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office.
