The Kadayawan Festival kicked off its month-long celebration of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest and honoring indigenous traditions of Mindanao with the big KadayaOne sale and the Floriculture and Agri Trade Fair, which runs through the whole month of August.
The grand opening ceremony, Pag-Abli sa Kadayawan, was held on Aug. 7 and featured the Kadayawan Project Mapping at the City Hall.
To showcase the diversity of their heritage, the event brings together 11 cultural communities in Davao for the best Kadayawan experience in the first half of August. The festivities include: Salida Kadayawan, a short film competition; Dayaw: The arts, culture, and film festival; Hiyas sa Kadayawan, a cultural presentation; Bantawan culinary showcase and cultural performance; an expo and food truck bazaar; a stage play and concert; and Pamulak Ug Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan, the street dance parade.
