DTI, Converge open Philippines' first AI training hub for MSMEs

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has partnered with Converge ICT Solutions Inc. to launch the country’s first artificial intelligence (AI) training hub aimed at helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and emerging startups grow in an increasingly digital environment.
Inaugurated on Tuesday, Aug. 11, the AI and Scale-Up Center is designed to be a practical hub for technology adoption, where businesses can learn how to integrate AI and other digital tools into their operations.
Located at the DTI Filinvest Building in Makati City, the facility enables participating enterprises to freely access live AI demonstration spaces, dedicated accelerator pods, pitching opportunities, and specialized training facilities.
It features collaborative spaces and specialized meeting rooms where industry leaders and technology providers directly assist businesses in building customized AI solutions and upskilling their workforce.
"Scaling a business requires usable tools and expert guidance so that innovative ideas can turn into functional solutions,” said Trade Secretary Cristina Roque.
“By bringing private tech leaders like Converge together with our local enterprises, we are giving businesses of all sizes the practical knowledge and connectivity they need to improve efficiency and stay competitive," she added.
The DTI signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Converge in November last year to strengthen the digital capabilities of MSMEs with the essential digital tools needed to succeed locally and in the global market.
Through the AI and Scale-Up Center, Converge would provide the underlying digital infrastructure, connectivity, and practical tech support to ensure enterprises can deploy these tools reliably.
With the company’s participation, the DTI expects the facility to “help growing enterprises transition from early innovation to stable, market-ready operations.”
Converge Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dennis Anthony Uy said his company’s participation in the initiative is part of its commitment to supporting enterprise growth in the country through digital transformation.
“Through reliable connectivity and hands-on technology solutions, our goal is to help companies understand AI, streamline their operations, and expand their reach in today's evolving market," he said.
