A lasting legacy grows from the positive impact a person leaves on people, communities, and the places around them. For John Gokongwei Jr., this was reflected in the businesses he built and the opportunities they created for generations of Filipinos. His approach focused on understanding people’s needs, managing resources carefully, and creating lasting value. That perspective also shaped Robinsons Land Corporation’s (RLC) approach to property development, with projects such as Robinsons Galleria and Bridgetowne bringing different uses and services together to support everyday life.
These values are now reflected in one of Bridgetowne Destination Estate’s key roads, which RLC is renaming as John Gokongwei Jr. Boulevard. The approximately one-kilometer road runs through the 31-hectare estate across Quezon City and Pasig, linking its residential, commercial, office, hospitality, and leisure spaces.

The boulevard is a key part of Bridgetowne’s master plan, connecting its Quezon City and Pasig sections through a 200-meter bridge and providing access to the estate’s different destinations. The development is also linked to C-5 Road, Ortigas Avenue, and Amang Rodriguez Avenue, giving residents, workers, businesses, and visitors several routes to and around Bridgetowne while strengthening its connections to surrounding areas.
The renaming comes just days before what would have been Gokongwei Jr.’s 100th birthday on August 11. The timing gives the boulevard added significance, placing his name within one of RLC’s major developments as the company continues to expand its property portfolio.
His early experiences helped shape the discipline and resourcefulness that became hallmarks of his career. After losing his father at 13, he took on greater responsibility for his family, learning early to make careful decisions and find opportunities even in difficult circumstances. Those lessons stayed with him as he built and expanded his businesses over the decades.

RLC’s property portfolio reflects how that long-term mindset evolved into different forms of development. From Robinsons Galleria’s combination of retail, offices, residences, and hospitality to larger estates such as Bridgetowne, the company has continued to develop properties that bring multiple functions together within a single destination.
With the renaming of Bridgetowne Avenue, John Gokongwei Jr. Boulevard becomes a permanent part of the estate and a lasting link to the founder of Robinsons Land. As Bridgetowne continues to grow, his name will remain part of a place that reflects how his work helped shape the company and the properties it continues to build.
