Woman arrested with P340K shabu in Sta. Cruz

A 37-year-old woman listed as a high-value individual (HVI) was arrested after police recovered around 50 grams of suspected shabu during an operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Sunday night, Aug. 9.
The suspect, identified as Rose Hermosura, was nabbed at around 10:30 p.m. on Rizal Avenue near the corner of Tambunting Street in Barangay 374, according to the Sta. Cruz Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU).
Police said the operation stemmed from a tip received by the station’s Tactical Operation Center about a woman allegedly involved in illegal drug activity in the area.
SDEU personnel were dispatched to verify the information, which resulted in Hermosura’s arrest.
Three heat-sealed transparent sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu were recovered from her.
Police estimated the total weight of the suspected drugs at around 50 grams, with an estimated street value of P340,000.
A yellow-and-cream paper bag was also reportedly confiscated during the operation.
Police said Hermosura was informed of the reason for her arrest and her constitutional rights in a language she understood. She reportedly chose to remain silent.
Hermosura is currently detained at the Sta. Cruz Police Station custodial facility pending the filing of charges for violation of Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The confiscated substances will undergo the required examination and documentation as part of the investigation.
