Two men caught with homemade guns in QC

Police arrested two men armed with improvised firearms late Monday night, Aug. 10, after a concerned citizen reported them sowing fear in Barangay San Jose, Quezon City.
The suspects, alias “Dudong,” 48, and alias “Totong,” 56, both residents of the barangay, were arrested by La Loma Police Station (PS 1) personnel on Tagaytay Street near the corner of A. Bonifacio Avenue at around 11:10 p.m.
Police said personnel from PS 1 were immediately dispatched after receiving a report about two armed men allegedly carrying improvised firearms in the area.
Upon reaching the place, the responding policemen saw the suspects holding and playing with their improvised firearms.
The officers cautiously approached and arrested the two men, recovering one improvised firearm and one live 12-gauge shotgun ammunition from each suspect.
Further investigation revealed that Totong had robbery cases in April 2021 and March 2022 and 2023, as well as a case for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in September 2016.
Dudong also had a previous record for violation of RA 9165.
The two suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
