Senate receives proposed P7.2-T national budget for 2027

Next year's proposed national budget prioritizes investments in education, health, social protection, food security, infrastructure, jobs, digitalization, and disaster resilience, with social services with a share of P2.456-trillion.

Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian on Tuesday, August 11 formally received the proposed P7.2-trillion national budget for 2027.

The copy of the National Expenditure Program (NEP) was formally received by Gatchalian during a ceremonial turnover at the Senate, together with Finance Committee chairpereson Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito and Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri.

Acting Budget Secretary Kim Robert De Leon led the turnover rites with Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Secretary Joey Sarte Salceda and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) officials, including Undersecretaries Janet Abuel, Mary Anne Dela Vega, and Ryan Lita; Officer-in-Charge Assistant Secretary Andrea Celene Magtalas and Undersecretary Goddes Hope Libiran.

Next year’s national budget prioritizes investments in education, health, social protection, food security, infrastructure, jobs, digitalization, and disaster resilience, with social services with a share of P2.456-trillion.

Meanwile, the budget for education remains the top priority, with proposed allocation amounting to P976 billion for the Department of Education (DepEd).

The 2027 NEP also includes proposed significant funding for health care, infrastructure, agriculture, transportation, and housing, among others.
