BACOLOD CITY - The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office posthumously honored Police Master Sgt. Fernando Marfa Jr. for his heroism, dedication, and ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Police Col. Dennis Wenceslao, Negros Occidental police director personally bestowed the Medalya ng Kadakilaan during a visit to Marfa’s wake on Tuesday, August 11.
On behalf of Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, director of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), Wenceslao also extended financial assistance to the family as a gesture of sympathy and solidarity.
The Negros Occidental police officials expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Marfa and assured them of the continued support of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
According to Nocppo, the solemn visit honored the life, courage, and selfless service of Marfa, whose sacrifice will forever be remembered and serve as an inspiration to fellow police officers.
Forty-year-old Marfa drowned in a river while trying to save his three companions, who are members of Bantay Dagat during a seaborne patrol operation in Barangay Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on August 7.
