Laborer nabbed for disturbance, gun possession in Las Piñas

A 29-year-old construction worker was arrested after allegedly causing a disturbance while armed with an improvised firearm in Las Piñas City early Tuesday, Aug. 11.
Las Piñas police chief Col. Fermin Armendarez identified the suspect as alias “Ace,” a resident of Bacoor, Cavite.
He was collared at about 5 a.m. in Barangay Pulanglupa Uno for alarms and scandals and violation of Republic Act No. 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Armendarez said personnel of the Daniel Fajardo Substation were conducting patrol operations when a concerned citizen reported that a man in a black shirt and black shorts was causing trouble and allegedly carrying a firearm.
Responding officers arrived at the scene and found Ace making trouble while armed with a firearm.
The officers pacified and arrested the suspect.
Recovered from his possession was an improvised firearm, or “zip gun,” loaded with one live 9mm round.
The suspect was turned over to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section, along with the seized firearm and ammunition.
