Caraga's No. 1 most wanted fugitive arrested

AMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The No. 1 most wanted person in Caraga region was arrested in Purok 10, Barangay Poblacion, Esperanza town, Agusan del Sur province, on Sunday, Aug. 9.
"The fugitive was arrested during a law enforcement operation conducted by government authorities," said Lt. Col. Jennifer S. Ometer, chief of Regional Public Information Office of Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13-RPIO).
Initial flash report received here stated that the 47-year-old fugitive, identified only as “Bib”, was completely surprised when police team arrived in the suspect’s hiding area.
Agusan del Sur Police Provincial Police Office (ADSPPO) Director Police Col. Yahya B. Yusup said the suspect was facing qualified a case of rape of a minor with no bail bond recommended by the local court in the province.
The Agusan del Sur PPO chief commended the operating unit of Esperanza Municipal Police Station (MPS) for the arrest of the region’s most wanted fugitive.
Yusup said the arrest demonstrated the unwavering commitment of the Philippine National Police in enforcing the law and ensuring that individuals facing serious criminal charges are brought before the court.
“This accomplishment also reflects the dedication, professionalism, and relentless efforts of ADSPPO personnel in tracking down wanted persons and upholding justice,” the province’s top police official added.
The arrested individual is now under the custody of Esperanza MPS for proper documentation and disposition prior to turnover to the issuing court.
PRO 13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado lV lauded the operating police force in Esperanza and Agusan del Sur PPO for the arrest of the region’s most wanted fugitive in their area.
Meanwhile, personnel of Cabadbaran Component City Police Station successfully arrested the Provincial Top 8 Most Wanted Person in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte province, on Monday, August 10.
Agusan del Norte Police Provincial Office (ADNPPO) Director Police Col. Ruel M. Cagape, identified the arrested 43-years old suspect as certain alias “Bato”.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of the Warrant of Arrest issued by Regional Trial Court , 10th. Judicial Region, Branch 34, Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte, dated August 6, 2026 for two counts Violation against RA 7610 Sec. 5 (A), docketed as Criminal Case Nos. CR-2026-337 and CR-2026-338, with a P200,000.00) bail recommended.
"The ADNPPO remains steadfast in its pursuit of wanted persons involved in offenses against children, and through continuous intelligence efforts and coordinated police operations, we will ensure that offenders are brought to justice and that children remain protected across Agusan del Norte,” Col. Cagape added.
