3,000 Bacolod residents get UPLIFT cash aid

BACOLOD CITY - The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) has began the payout of cash assistance under the Unified Package for Livelihood, Industry, Food, and Transport Assistance (UPLIFT) program to 3,000 beneficiaries in this highly-urbanized city on Monday, August 10.
A total of 624 qualified beneficiaries received P2,000 each during the first payout at SM City Bacolod, in coordination with the city government here.
Personnel of the DSWD-NIR partnered with the local government to help ensure the orderly processing and distribution of assistance, including guiding beneficiaries through the necessary verification and payout procedures.
The three-day payout slated from August 10 to 12, provides additional financial support to qualified beneficiaries as they address their household needs and other essential expenses.
These recipients were classified under Group 2 which are poor and near-poor based on the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and entitled to receive the said cash aid per month from July to December.
This forms part of the continuing rollout of the UPLIFT Program, reflecting the agency’s commitment to bringing social protection services closer to communities and ensuring that qualified beneficiaries receive timely and accessible support.
The distribution followed the announcement of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. last June on the expansion of UPLIFT assistance as part of the continuing measures to mitigate the impact of the lingering Middle East crisis on the vulnerable sectors.
