The Philippine motorcycle market came close to the one-million-unit mark during the first half of 2026, with the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) reporting 939,528 units sold from January to June.
The figure represents a 3.58 percent increase from the 907,054 units recorded during the same period in 2025. The overall increase came despite a weaker second quarter, following a strong start to the year. Motorcycle sales reached 496,868 units during the first quarter, an 11.6 percent increase over the same period last year. Second-quarter sales then declined 4.2 percent to 442,660 units from 462,007 units a year earlier. The stronger first quarter was enough to keep total first-half sales above their 2025 level.

Automatic motorcycles continued to dominate the market, accounting for 655,004 units during the first six months of 2026. MDPPA attributed their popularity to convenience, fuel efficiency, and practicality for everyday commuting.
Business motorcycles followed with 148,989 units. The category continues to serve delivery services, small businesses, and other livelihood activities.
Mopeds accounted for 107,632 units, while street motorcycles recorded 24,346 units. Big bike sales reached 2,994 units, with other motorcycle categories accounting for 563 units.
“The first half of the year reflects the resilience of the Philippine motorcycle industry,” said MDPPA President Erwin D. Estrada. “While market conditions have become more challenging compared with last year's exceptionally strong performance, motorcycles continue to meet the everyday mobility needs of Filipinos. The industry's continued growth demonstrates that consumers recognize the value motorcycles provide through affordability, fuel efficiency, and dependable transportation for work, business, and daily life.”
First-half growth in 2026 was slower than during the same period in 2025, but total motorcycle sales still finished the six-month period higher year on year.
Industry analysts expect the Philippine motorcycle market to maintain steady long-term growth, supported by continued demand for affordable transportation and the sector's ability to adjust to changing economic conditions.
