The Office of the Vice President (OVP) on Monday, Aug. 10, said it delivered immediate relief assistance to more than 4,000 families affected by flooding caused by the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” in Ilocos Norte.

From Aug. 3 to 7, the OVP said its Disaster Operations Center (OVP DOC) conducted disaster relief operations in the province to assist families affected by flooding brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon and Tropical Cyclone Kiyapo.

The OVP said relief assistance was distributed to nearly 1,200 families in Paoay, 1,330 families in Batac City, and 1,500 families in Dingras.

The relief operations were carried out as communities in parts of Ilocos Norte dealt with the effects of heavy rains and flooding associated with the weather disturbances.

The OVP said the initiative was part of its continuing disaster response efforts to provide immediate assistance to Filipinos affected by calamities. The office added that it aims to ensure that no family is left behind during times of need.

“Sa gitna ng mga pagsubok na dulot ng kalamidad, nananatiling katuwang ng bawat Pilipino ang OVP sa paghahatid ng maagap, makatao, at may malasakit na serbisyo, upang matiyak na walang pamilyang maiiwan sa oras ng pangangailangan (In the midst of challenges brought by calamities, the OVP remains a steadfast partner of every Filipino in delivering prompt, humane, and compassionate service, ensuring that no family is left behind in times of need),” the OVP said.

The OVP has continued to deploy its disaster response operations to areas affected by natural disasters, providing relief assistance to communities in need of immediate support.
