Nismo, the performance division of Nissan, has just collaborated with British Jeweler, Loud Mouth LDN to make grillz of car grilles. More than just an out-of-date pun, this project aims of turn the distinctive grilles of Nissan models into grillz to be worn on teeth, a fashion trend long-associated with hip-hop culture.
Nismo worked with Loud Mouth to create four designs based on well-known Nissan vehicles. These are the R34 Skyline GT-R, Z GT500, GEN3 Formula E Evo, and of-course, the Japanese GT500-winning Pennzoil Nissan GT-R R34 race car.
Besides featuring the car’s grille, the grillz designs also include subtle details like livery graphics, lines to depict various aero parts, and even turn signals.
Unfortunately, this grillz will not be available for purchase. The four creations are part of a one-off collections to be showcased at a Westfield shopping center in East London, as part of the Formula E finale race.
“We enjoy pushing ourselves creatively, and it was a chance to take what we normally do and apply it to a totally different world… For this project, rather than starting with letters or logos, we looked at the shapes and details of the cars and translated them into something that works as jewelry,” said Loud Mouth founder and director Reece Garcia.
