Jeongyeon leaves JYP Entertainment to pursue acting career
K-pop idol Jeongyeon has parted ways with JYP Entertainment to pursue an acting career, but she will remain a member of TWICE.
In a letter posted on Instagram, Jeongyeon announced that she is "now preparing to start a new chapter in a new place."
She thanked JYP Entertainment for its support and assured fans that TWICE will remain her top priority.
"Standing before ONCE as a member of TWICE will always be my very first priority," she wrote. "I will prepare step by step with all my heart, both for my journey as TWICE's Jeongyeon, whom you have loved so much, and for the new challenges ahead as Yu Jeongyeon."
Jeongyeon is the first TWICE member to part ways with JYP Entertainment after all nine members renewed their contracts with the agency in 2022.
Following her departure from JYP Entertainment, Jeongyeon has joined Varo Entertainment, the agency that also represents her older sister, actress Gong Seung-yeon.
Varo Entertainment confirmed that it has signed Jeongyeon to an exclusive contract for her acting activities.
"We are truly delighted to form a precious relationship with Yu Jeongyeon, who possesses diverse charms and infinite potential," the agency said.
