A dump truck driver who had been working for a construction company for nearly 15 years was among two suspects arrested for allegedly stealing a ₱120,000 generator-type welding machine from his workplace in Barangay Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
The suspects were identified as alias “Kulas,” 54, and alias “Boyet,” 35, both residents of Barangay Tandang Sora.
The incident was reported at around 12:45 p.m. on Aug. 8 after a liaison officer of the construction company heard unusual pounding noises coming from inside the facility while he was on his way to the comfort room after lunch.
The employee checked the area and instructed the person inside to come out.
Kulas emerged and allegedly admitted his wrongdoing.
The complainant temporarily restrained him while waiting for Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) of Barangay Tandang Sora.
Kulas later identified Boyet as his alleged cohort, who also admitted his participation in the incident.
Responding BPSO personnel arrested the two suspects and turned them over to Talipapa Police Station (PS 3).
Police recovered the dismantled generator-type welding machine valued at ₱120,000.
Police investigation showed that Kulas had been employed as a dump truck driver at the construction company for nearly 15 years, while Boyet was employed as a utility driver at another construction company.
Police verification also showed that Kulas had previous records for violations of the Philippine Mining Act of 1995 and Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority.
Boyet, meanwhile, had a previous offense for Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Homicide.
Charges for Qualified Theft are being prepared against the two suspects.
