Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc. (HMPH) has appointed Byung Goo Ko as its new president, effective July 27, 2026.
Ko succeeds Jiho Son, whose tenure saw HMPH expand its dealer network and vehicle lineup. Ko takes over four years after Hyundai Motor Company established its Philippine sales subsidiary in 2022.
“The Philippines has always been a valued market for us at Hyundai Motor Company, and we see so much potential for growth,” expressed Mr. Ko. “With a constantly changing automotive landscape, it’s now more important than ever to strengthen our brand presence and to inspire consumer confidence.”
Ko has more than two decades of experience at Hyundai Motor Company, covering international market development, sales operations, and global business strategy.
His career has included strategic roles in Asia Pacific, Europe, India, and the Middle East, giving him experience across several of Hyundai's international markets.
“We gladly welcome Mr. Ko to Hyundai Motor Philippines. He is a seasoned figure in the automotive industry with extensive experience across all business operations. With him at the helm, HMPH looks forward to building on its momentum and pursuing new opportunities in the years ahead,” said HMPH Managing Director, Mr. Cecil Capacete.
With Ko leading the company, HMPH plans to continue improving the car ownership experience and providing mobility solutions to customers nationwide.
Hyundai Motor Philippines is the official sales subsidiary and distributor of Hyundai passenger vehicles in the country. It began operations on June 1, 2022.
