“Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)” is putting out tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) set in the universes of “Star Wars” and “World of Warcraft (WoW).”
Wizards of the Coast made the announcement during Gen Con 2026, one of the largest TTRPG gatherings in the US. It’s D&D taking a page from “Magic: The Gathering,” the highly popular trading card game also under Wizards of the Coast that has its own Universes Beyond catalog that crosses over with other genres and franchises like “Doctor Who,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and “The Lord of the Rings.”
Not much has been revealed about the “Star Wars” crossover other than the campaign season’s title, “Season of Rebellion.” Details also indicate that the timeline is set to take place during the events of the Galactic Civil War, which largely takes place during the Original Trilogy and trickles down to the timeline of “The Mandalorian.” It also hasn’t been revealed if any of the iconic characters are set to be featured heavily in the upcoming crossover, though Darth Vader did make a special appearance during the announcement. From the timeline shown, much of the content is set for release in 2027.

As for the WoW crossover, the joint venture with Blizzard Entertainment starts rolling things out with the first book releasing in November. It isn’t leaving any stone unturned, making every species and class from the WoW franchise present in the upcoming collab. Included in the expansion book are details of all the playable characters and classes, over 26 magic items, seven dungeons based in WoW, 30 dungeon boss stat blocks, 50+ new monsters, and 60+ new spells. Pre-orders have already begun, with early access rolling out on Nov. 3.
“We want to let our community know that D&D Universes Beyond is additive to the incredible roadmap we have for our own worlds,” shares Wizards of the Coast through a blog post. “We have been staffing up to support this initiative and look forward to what the future holds.”
