A total of 31 families, or 132 individuals, were evacuated in Muntinlupa as heavy rains continued due to the southwest monsoon.
Based on data from the Muntinlupa City government’s Social Services Department, as of 8 a.m. on Aug. 9, 18 families are staying at Bagong Silang Elementary School, 11 families at the DRT covered court in Barangay Putatan, and two families at Villa Carolina Pavilion in Barangay Tunasan.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon said the city government continues to monitor situations in different barangays, especially the low-lying areas.
The city government activated emergency response measures to respond to any situation. Search and rescue teams, and equipment are on standby.
It advised people to conduct a preemptive evacuation if their area is at risk and go to the nearest evacuation area.
Parts of barangays in Muntinlupa are situated along the Laguna Lake. As of 7 a.m. on Aug. 9, the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) said the average water level at Laguna Lake stood at 11.68 meters or within the normal and safe transition range. The critical high level is 12.5 meters.
