TV5 is leaning on nostalgia, familiar faces and new local dramas as it rolls out its programming lineup for the second half of 2026.

At its “Tara, Kapatid!” Midyear Media and Trade Celebration on Aug. 6, the network announced a slate of programs that includes the return of veteran broadcaster Korina Sanchez-Roxas to a bigger role, a reunion of stars who defined late-1990s Philippine television and several new primetime dramas.

One of the biggest announcements was “Mommy Guard,” a new series that brings together Marvin Agustin, Jolina Magdangal and Dominic Ochoa nearly three decades after they first became household names through projects including “Gimik” and the hit film “Hey Babe!”

The series, which premieres in September, will be directed by Roman Perez Jr. Details about the story remain under wraps.

Magdangal said the production is aware of the nostalgia surrounding their reunion, but noted that the interest is not limited to longtime fans.

“We understand na ‘yung appeal of this is ‘yung nostalgia factor, pero nagulat ako na marami na ring mga bagong henerasyon na natutuwa sa tambalan namin. Siguro ‘yung mga anak ng fans namin,” she said.

Agustin and Magdangal became one of the defining love teams of the late 1990s, while Ochoa was also a familiar face from “Gimik” and the Whattamen trio.

“I’m just so excited to reunite with Jolina and, of course, Dominic. It’s always fun to work with them and I hope na magustuhan ninyo ang palabas namin,” Agustin said.

TV5 is also giving Sanchez-Roxas a larger presence on the network. Her daily talk show, “Face to Face with Ate Koring,” anchors the late-morning block, while “Rated Korina” continues on weekends.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Sanchez-Roxas said the revamped “Face to Face” has moved away from the explosive confrontations that became associated with its earlier run.

“It’s lighter now. We still tackle real issues, but there are also inspiring stories, extraordinary children, celebrities and trending topics that people can learn from,” she said.

She also credited the show’s sidekicks, DJ Laila Chikadora and Cheena Crab, for bringing a more relaxed energy to the program.

Sanchez-Roxas also brushed aside suggestions that she could be overexposed with five programs airing across different platforms.

“No,” she said. “If people continue watching, it means they like what you’re doing.”

Beyond the returning stars, TV5 is adding to its primetime offerings with “Sigabo,” “A Secret in Prague” starring Andrea Brillantes, and “My Bespren Emman.”
