PAGASA monitors 3 weather systems outside PH Area of Responsibility

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said it is monitoring three weather systems outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), including Typhoon Dolphin, which continues to enhance the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
PAGASA weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said Dolphin was last located 825 kilometers north-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon as of 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8.
“Itong bagyong ito ang kasalukuyang nagpapalakas or humahantak ng ating habagat o ‘yung southwest monsoon (This typhoon is currently enhancing or pulling the habagat or southwest monsoon),” Villamil said.
He said thick clouds associated with the “habagat” are affecting a large portion of Luzon and the Visayas, as well as the western section of Mindanao.
“Kaya sa mga lugar na ito, asahan pa rin po natin ‘yung mga malalakas at tuloy-tuloy na mga pag-ulan na ating mararanasan simula ngayong araw hanggang sa araw ng Lunes (So in these areas, we can still expect heavy and continuous rains from today until Monday),” Villamil said.
He advised the public to continue monitoring heavy rainfall warnings, particularly in the Ilocos Region, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, the agency said generally fair weather is expected over the rest of Mindanao.

Aside from Dolphin, Villamil said PAGASA is monitoring a tropical depression that was last located more than 3,000 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon as of 3 p.m.
Another low-pressure area (LPA) was located 1,795 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon and has a high chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours.
Villamil, however, said the two weather systems are moving away from the Philippines.
“Walang magiging direktang epekto sa lagay ng ating panahon, at hindi po papasok sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility sa mga susunod na araw (They will have no direct effect on our weather and will not enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the coming days),” he added.
