CEBU CITY – Bohol Rep. Vanessa Aumentado is standing by her decision to vote against the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Aumentado ventilated this sentiment following the reorganization at the House of the Respresentatives where she lost the chairmanship of the Committee on Ecology.
“Some decisions are never easy,” Aumentado wrote on Facebook. The lawmaker’s post came with a Facebook post about the reorganization at the House.
Aumentado said she did not regret her decision during the impeachment voting.
“No regrets. I accept every consequence that comes with choosing what I believe is right- listening to the sentiments of the majority of my constituents,” Aumentado said.
Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado also expressed support for his wife.
“If this is one of the consequences of voting no to the impeachment of the Vice President, we salute you because you decided with a clear conscience and based on what your constituents believed in,” the governor said.
Despite the stripping of his wife’s chairmanship, the governor assured that they will continue to support the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
“Despite this development, we vow to fully support the programs of PBBM administration which have brought relevant and timely benefits to our fellow Boholanos. Forever, we are thankful,” said the governor.
