Ambuklao, Binga dams in Benguet open gates amid heavy rains

Two dams in Benguet released water through several gates on Saturday, Aug. 8, as heavy rains continued to affect the province.
This was based on data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Data showed that four gates of the Ambuklao Dam were open by two meters as of 8 a.m., with a discharge rate of 281.20 cubic meters per second (cms).
Meanwhile, four gates of Binga Dam also had openings of two meters, with a discharge of 317.53 cms.

Earlier in the day, PAGASA said Typhoon Dolphin was enhancing the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” bringing heavy rains particularly over western Luzon and rainy conditions over other parts of the country.
The weather bureau noted that Dolphin remains unlikely to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) or directly affect any part of the country.
Despite this, the typhoon’s enhancement of the habagat is bringing rainy conditions over much of Luzon and the Visayas, as well as parts of Mindanao.
