Woman's remains found in septic tank

CEBU CITY – The body of a woman was found in a septic tank in a subdivision in Barangay Tungkil, Minglanilla, Cebu.

Glenda Petallana Angel, 77, was reported missing before her body was found on Thursday morning, Aug. 7, said Police Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, chief of the Minglanilla Municipal Police Station.

Police said the woman had Alzheimer’s disease. Macatangay said the victim slept on the ground floor of her house with family.

She was reported missing at around 3 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 3. Efforts to find the elderly woman went futile.

The disappearance was announced on social media and family members went to various radio stations in an effort to locate her.

On Thursday morning, a resident was walking in the subdivision and noticed that the cover of a septic tank caved in. The resident checked the septic tank and found the woman’s body floating inside. The discovery was reported to the police.

Police are reviewing closed-circuit television footages as part of the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
