US, Japan retain 'good' trust rating among Filipinos — SWS

China, Palestine, Iran post poor rating

The United States and Japan received good trust ratings from Filipinos, while China, Palestine, and Iran continued to receive poor trust ratings in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.
The Second Quarter 2026 Social Weather Survey, conducted from June 20 to 29, found the United States posting a “good” net trust rating of +42, followed by Japan at +36.
Australia received a “moderate” +29, while Israel (-5) and Russia (-8) were rated “neutral.”
China (-16), Palestine (-19), and Iran (-23) remained in the “poor” category.
SWS said the United States’ rating improved by three points from +39 in March to +42 in June.
Japan’s rating also climbed from +34 to +36, while Australia's rating improved from +23 to +29.
Israel's rating slipped from +1 to -5, while Russia's net trust score declined from -5 to -8.
Meanwhile, China's rating improved slightly from -19 to -16.
Palestine's net trust rating dropped from -12 to -19, while Iran's score edged down from -22 to -23.
The survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 adults nationwide.
It had sampling error margins of ±3 percentage points for national estimates and ±6 percentage points for each of Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
