A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly exploiting and threatening a 16-year-old girl he met through Facebook in Sta. Cruz, Manila, the Manila Police District (MPD) said.
Police identified the suspect as “Jeffrey,” a resident of Barangay 310, Sta. Cruz.
Based on the victim’s account, a Facebook user using the name “Chezter Diaz” added her on the social media platform sometime in July. The two later began communicating online.
At around 11 p.m. on Aug. 5, the suspect allegedly offered the victim P2,000 in exchange for showing her private parts during a video call.
Police said the suspect later asked the victim to meet him in person and allegedly threatened to send the recorded video to one of her friends if she refused.
Fearing that the video would be circulated, the victim agreed to meet the suspect but informed her family about the situation before leaving.
The suspect allegedly brought the victim inside his residence along Oroquieta Street in Barangay 310, where he committed acts of lasciviousness against her.
Personnel of the MPD Sta. Cruz Police Station conducted a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect at around 3:50 a.m. on Aug. 6.
The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act No. 11930, or the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials Act.
