- Kris Aquino returns to the spotlight with her first project since stepping back due to multiple autoimmune illnesses.
After years largely away from the spotlight while undergoing treatment for multiple autoimmune illnesses, Kris Aquino has taken on her first new project.
The longtime television host and actress, known as the "Queen of All Media," was unveiled by Netflix as its new "C.H.I.K.A." or Chief Head of Insights and Kontent Analysis, in a promotional campaign released this week.
In the lighthearted video, Aquino returns to one of the roles that made her a household name: offering candid, unfiltered opinions.
Following Aquino's suggestions, scenes from "A Secret in Prague," "Blood vs Duty" and "The Master Cutter" are reworked with new effects and filters, transforming what she jokingly describes as "nakakaloka" moments into scenes she declares "love, love, love."
While the appearance is promotional, it is Aquino's first project since stepping back from regular television work because of her health.
Aquino has spent the past several years undergoing treatment in the United States and the Philippines for a series of autoimmune diseases. She has publicly disclosed diagnoses that include chronic spontaneous urticaria, autoimmune thyroid disease, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), and systemic sclerosis, among other autoimmune conditions that have severely affected her immune system.
