BACOLOD CITY – An animal welfare group assisted a dog injured by a dart arrow in Barangay 8 here on Thursday.

A video of the dog with a dart arrow, believed to have hit his bone, went viral on social media, and garnered reactions from pet owners and netizens.

Animal welfare non-government organization, Bach Project PH, shared on Facebook that they learned the incident after they were tagged by people online and started seeking help from them.

However, the group said that due to issues raised by fellow animal rescuers accusing them of responding only to viral cases, they decided to wait first before responding, giving chance to those who wanted to help.

"We waited because we wanted to give other rescuers or concerned individuals a chance to step in. So, this time, we held back. But more than 24 hours passed, no one stepped it," the group said.

They decided to respond while people were sharing, commenting, and tagging, as the dog was still there needing help.

The group said the dog is now safe and currently at Juan Veterinarian-Bacolod for proper assessment and treatment.

They thanked barangay officials for assisting their team and welcoming them and their cooperation made things much easier for them and the dog.

"At the end of the day, we don’t care who gets the credit. We just couldn’t continue watching an animal suffer while waiting for someone else to act," the group said.

Police are checking if the incident was formally reported to authorities.

Last year, a dog named Buldog was also a victim of a dart arrow attack in Murcia, Negros Occidental, following the first case involving another dog named Tiktok who was rescued after sustaining injuries from five arrows in Barangay Blumentritt, Murcia. Tiktok later died in a car accident.
