'Rent-tangay' suspect falls in Quezon

PAGBILAO, Quezon – A man allegedly involved in a “rent-tangay” or rent-and-run scheme in Olongapo City was apprehended in Barangay Ikirin here Thursday.
Police identified the suspect as Jayson, a Zambales resident.
Investigation said the suspect rented a Toyota Vios from the victim Jonel on July 31 for one but failed to return it.
The suspect could no longer be contacted, prompting the victim to report the incident to the Olongapo City Police Office.
Thru the vehicle's Global Positioning System, police located the car in Barangay Ikirin.
Police Major Arjon Oxina, Pagbilao police chief, said the suspect fled pursuing lawmen but crashed the vehicle into a concrete post.
Jayson abandoned the vehicle and tried to run but was arrested and taken to the station for processing and investigation.
The suspect and the vehicle have been turned over to the Olongapo City Police Office for further investigation and the filing of appropriate charges.
