The Quezon City government is offering free guidance to residents and business owners who plan to install rooftop solar panels through QC Helpline 122.
The city government said QCitizens may call the helpline to consult licensed electrical engineers from the City Engineering Department before investing in a solar energy system.
The service is available to homeowners, condominium residents, and commercial establishments.
Through the helpline, residents may ask about the suitable size of a solar panel system based on their electricity use, safety and technical requirements, accredited solar service providers listed by the Department of Energy, and permit requirements through the Department of the Building Official.
Mayor Joy Belmonte said the initiative aims to make solar energy more accessible while protecting residents from fraudulent or unlicensed installers.
“Quezon City has enormous potential to harness solar energy, but many QCitizens and business owners are unsure where to start,” Belmonte said.
“Through Helpline 122, our licensed electrical engineers are ready to guide them through the process, answer their technical questions, and help them avoid fraudulent or unlicensed installers,” she added.
The city government said rooftop solar systems can help property owners reduce electricity bills, lessen dependence on the power grid, and support the city’s clean energy goals.
It added that the city has already installed solar systems in seven City Hall buildings, three city government hospitals, and 25 public schools.
The city said these facilities generated more than P8 million in electricity savings from January to June 2026.
Based on the city’s Solar Penetration and Potential Market Demand in Buildings Dashboard, Quezon City’s estimated electricity consumption in 2025 is 5,787 gigawatt-hours.
The city government said viable rooftops in Quezon City could generate an estimated 16,098.28 gigawatt-hours of electricity if equipped with solar panels.
A study by Thinking Machines Lab, commissioned by C40 Cities, also estimated that wider rooftop solar adoption in Quezon City could generate up to P40.651 billion in savings by 2035.
Residents and business owners were encouraged to call 122 before installing solar panels to get proper guidance and understand the requirements.
