An artist's work often ends up an expression of their views in life. We are given a window into the very thoughts that linger in their mind. It's truly a beautiful thing to see what creativity appears on the canvas once they put their skills to work. Such beauty is present in the works of Kublai Milan in his latest exhibit, "Other Half."

In "Other Half," Kublai explores what he reveals is his "other half." A collection of works that focuses on the overlooked moments that led him to where he is today. "I have already shared my story, but that is only half of it," shares Kublai. "This series is the other half." 

Viewers will see just what shapes decades of artistry through the lens of Kublai. Through his paintings, we can sense the unique struggles and joyful memories that persist, and a patience that only a honed artist can have. Every piece has its own story to tell.  

There's a unified style that comes alive through different colors in Kublai's work. Red seems to be a recurring color, making every work stand out for its vivid tones. Hues of blue, green, and yellow vary to evoke different moods per piece. Some make you feel a sense of longing, while others have you busy and looking for all the small details placed throughout. A keen eye may also notice the moon being present in his works. It symbolizes the many nights Kublai spent searching for meaning, moments of uncertainty, and the patience required to allow wisdom to unfold naturally over time. “This is my moon phase,” Kublai states. “The changing of light cast in the days, nights, months, and years of searching for meaning.” 

Through "Other Half," viewers are invited to come and reflect on their own unseen stories. Who are the people around them that have quietly shaped who they are? "Other Half" allows us to find beauty in every phase of becoming. “Life may sometimes look less or empty, but it has never diminished. It is always full and filled," mentions Kublai.
