LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Classes in this province were suspended on Friday, Aug. 7, due to heavy rains from tropical cyclone Maymay.
Gov. Melchor Diclas said in Executive Order No. 2026-56 that Maymay has weakened while moving over the Cordillera but continues to bring significant weather impacts in the province, with heavy to intense rainfall expected to persist until Friday.
Classes were also cancelled as clearing operations in roads hit by landslides continue.
Diclas said the extension of the suspension of face-to-face classes is intended to ensure the safety and well-being of students, school personnel, and the general public by reducing exposure to weather-related risks.
The public was advised to remain vigilant, avoid non-essential travel, and continue monitoring official weather advisories.
