Taxi driver stabbed with screwdriver over pedestrian graze in QC

A taxi driver was stabbed twice with a screwdriver after his vehicle accidentally grazed a man walking along Gen. Luis Street in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon, Novaliches, Quezon City, Monday afternoon, Aug. 3.
Police said the driver pulled over after the minor contact and tried to talk to the man, identified only as alias “Mar-mar,” 45.
The contact was minor and did not cause the man to fall, police said.
However, when the driver opened his taxi window, the suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor, suddenly stabbed him twice in the left side of his chest using a screwdriver.
The incident happened at around 5:30 p.m. in front of ACCUPLUS along Gen. Luis Street.
Personnel of the Quezon City Police District’s District Mobile Force Battalion (DMFB), who were conducting police visibility operations nearby, saw the attack and immediately arrested the suspect.
Police recovered a 12-inch screwdriver allegedly used in the stabbing.
The injured driver was rushed to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment.
The suspect is facing a complaint for frustrated homicide before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
