QC guard foils helmet theft, suspect nabbed

A 27-year-old man was nabbed after a security guard foiled his attempt to steal a P4,000 motorcycle helmet from a parked motorcycle inside an establishment along Commonwealth Avenue, Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City, on Monday night, Aug. 3.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Mar,” entered the establishment through the parking exit riding a gray Honda Click motorcycle while wearing an Angkas blue long-sleeve uniform.
The on-duty security guard noticed the suspect's suspicious behavior and kept him under observation inside the parking area.
Moments later, the guard saw the suspect take a white EVO full-face helmet from another parked motorcycle and place it inside the top box of his motorcycle before attempting to leave the premises.
The guard immediately stopped the suspect from escaping and coordinated with the AFNI Call Center to locate the helmet owner, who later identified the recovered helmet as his.
Quezon City Police District Director Randy Glenn Silvio said the suspect is facing a theft complaint, with the case being prepared for inquest before the Quezon City Prosecutor's Office.
Police records also showed that the suspect had previous cases involving illegal gambling and violation of the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.
