Gokongwei's Summit Media, PlayTime form PT Summit to upgrade digital media tech
The Gokongwei Group’s Summit Media has entered into a joint venture with PlayTime Entertainment to establish PT Summit, a technology firm designed to build digital products, marketing solutions, and infrastructure for media organizations.
Under the partnership, PlayTime Entertainment holds a 60 percent stake in the newly formed joint venture, while Summit Media owns the remaining 40 percent.
The alliance fuses PlayTime’s scalable technology capabilities with Summit Media’s decades-long experience in managing influential lifestyle brands, producing trusted content, and engaging massive digital audiences.

Summit Media will act as PT Summit’s inaugural client and flagship implementation partner. The media company’s portfolio of digital properties will serve as the first testbed for the platform's proprietary technology.
This initial rollout functions as a live proof of concept, demonstrating how PT Summit's technological architecture can be deployed across a diverse collection of media brands with distinct commercial and audience requirements. Lessons gleaned from this integration will refine a scalable model intended for external publishers and content enterprises.
Summit Media Chairman Lisa Gokongwei noted that the initial phase enables PT Summit to deploy and fine-tune its platform within an established media ecosystem characterized by varied audiences, content categories, and commercial needs.
“For Summit Media, the partnership will strengthen its product architecture, audience intelligence, marketing performance, content workflows, and monetization capabilities,” Gokongwei said.
PT Summit Chief Executive Crisanto Roy Alcid, meanwhile, said that the changing landscape of content consumption necessitates critical infrastructure to help media companies adapt. By teaming up with Summit Media first, the platform validates its model alongside market leaders.
Unlike mainstream platforms that optimize primarily for raw traffic, repeat loops, and generic behavioral metrics, PT Summit is engineered to prioritize metrics that matter deeply to publishers, according to Summit Media President and Chief Executive Officer Howard Go.
He explained that current tech platforms often focus on metrics tailored for specific content types, whereas media enterprises care more about metrics such as scroll depth, re-engagement, editorial continuity, truth-seeking, and objectivity.
Building a platform around these core publishing principles will enable digital media businesses to scale effectively and deepen audience connections.
Following its deployment within the Gokongwei media ecosystem, PT Summit plans to commercialize its platform for independent publishers, media networks, and content businesses seeking advanced digital infrastructure without building complex systems internally.
Gokongwei noted that after establishing a solid footing in the Philippines, the venture intends to explore overseas markets, capitalizing on PlayTime’s proven proficiency in scaling specialized technologies.
